Pediatric Care
We recommended that children be brought in for their first appointment by the time they celebrate their
first birthday. This allows us to detect potential problems at any early age.
At the first visit we can evaluate the following:
- Growth
- Teeth are Emerging Properly
- Thumb Sucking
- Nutrition
- Cavities
- Need for Flouride Supplements
- Our hygienist will demonstrate how to care for your child's teeth
We recommend that you introduce you child to our office, our staff and the doctor, in advance of their
first appointment. We find that this makes a big difference, helping them to feel more comfortable with
the people and the surroundings goes a long way in reassuring them, and helps make your child's first visit
both pleasant and productive. Teaching your child the importance of good oral health, at an early age, ensures
a healthy smile for years to come; making their initial visit comfortable is an important first step.
The American Dental Association recommends that every child receive an orthodontic evaluation by age seven.
Dr. Kevin Trotter monitors your childs development and will keep you apprised of the need for orthodontic
treatment. For additional information about orthodontic treatment,

Our Hygeinist
Preventive Care
We recommend a thorough check-up and cleaning in addition to x-rays, as needed, every six months. Regular
checkups allows us to identify problems early on, when they are more manageable.
Sealants
Our hygienist will recommend and place sealants, as needed. Sealants are an excellent way to protect
the chewing surfaces of primary and adult teeth from decay.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
As with most offices, our hygienist would be happy to demonstrate proper brushing and flossing
techniques. Brushing and flossing regularly can dramatically reduce the need for costly treatment.

Digital Radiography
Whenever possible we employ digital radiography to dramatically lessen exposure to radiation.
Digital radiography is vastly superior to traditional film based x-rays. They are safe, reducing the amount of radiation
exposure by ninety-percent, when compared to the already low dose required of a traditional x-ray. In addition, digital x-rays are
environmentally friendly; there is no longer a need for the chemicals associated with traditional film based x-rays.
A small sensor is placed inside your mouth and an image is transmited instantly, to the computer screen. Often, the doctor
will review these high-resolution digital x-rays with you to help you better understand the selected course of treatment.
