Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums, the bone, and other structures that support your teeth. If left untreated, periodontal disease can also affect your overall health. At Dentistry at the Heights, we have a periodontist on staff who treats patients with gum disease and helps them maintain a healthy smile.

So periodontal disease is a chronic infection or inflammation of the tissues that support the teeth, the gums, the bone, and supporting structures like the ligaments. So, if you have a diagnosis of periodontal disease, we can work with you. And we also have a periodontist, who is a specialist that comes into our practice to treat those types of cases, so that we can maintain your dental health. There's also a correlation between heart disease and all sorts of other diseases, hypertension, diabetes. All those things have a higher incidence of periodontal disease, so people oftentimes don't know that they have bone loss or mobility of their teeth until it's too late. So getting a thorough checkup with your dentist would help keep your teeth for a lifetime and prevent periodontal disease.
